I want a fountain in my pond, how can I do this?
If you want a fountain in your pond, you will need to buy a fountain pump. Click here to see our extensive range.
Running a fountain and a filterFountain pumps come with a t-piece attachment which allows you to run both a fountain and a filter. You can adjust the water flow through each outlet or even close off the fountain if you want to. If you are using a fountain pump to feed your filter then it will need to be placed on the bottom of the pond to provide maximum filtration and the fountain-head needs to be level with the surface of the water. This can cause problems if your pond is too deep, as the fountain head won't reach the surface. You can buy an extension pipe for some fountain pumps to solve this problem, but we would usually recommend getting a separate filter pump and just using the fountain pump to run a fountain (see below).
Running just a fountainIf you are going to use your fountain pump to run a fountain only, then you will need to close off the outlet on the t-piece that goes to the filter. We would recommend raising the pump off the bottom of the pond in this instance to prevent any debris from the pond floor clogging the pump and to help the fountain head to reach the surface of the water. The easiest way to do this is with a pump stand.
Fountain AttachmentsDifferent fountain pumps will come with different attachments to give you different fountain effects. See product descriptions for details.
