Your simple guide to selecting a filter for your pond

A filter cleans the water in your pond by removing any debris or fish waste from the water and breaks down the invisible toxins in the water, resulting in a clean and healthy environment for your plants and fish.

Choose the correct filter for your pond by following our simple filter tips:

Basic Filters

The cheapest pond filters to buy, theses filters will remove any suspended solids from the water in your pond. They will not destroy the algae in the water so your pond may still look green. But they will make the water safe for your fish.

Clear Water Guaranteed
Ultraviolet box filters use foams to remove all suspended solids from the water and UV lights to destroy the algae in the water. These filters should be positioned at the top of your pond system – for most people this means putting the filter at the top of your waterfall.
Discrete Filtration
Where you want the filter to be out of site choose from our range of pressurised pond filters. These filters are designed so they can be hidden or partially buried making them the most discrete pond filters available.
Specialist Koi Filters

If you keep koi you will want a filter that provides both outstanding performance, so your fish have the very best water quality and you will be able to see them perfectly. The koi filters we stock not only provide this but are also quick and easy to maintain.

Once you have selected the type of filter you want for your pond, use the flow rate (lph) from the pond volume calculator to choose the correct size of filter.

Whatever filter you select you will need a pump to carry the water to it. Select the correct size of pump to match your filter – if the pump is too large your filter will be flooded, if too small the filter will not work correctly to clean the water.

When buying a filter and pump at the same time for your pond, save money by buying one of our pump and filter kits.
