Measure Your Pond
Once you have a rough design for your pond you’ll need to take 4 measurements. Imagine drawing a rectangle around your pond and this is what you’ll be measuring. Measure at the longest and widest points of the rectangle, these are your pond's length and width. Now measure the depth of the pond at the deepest point, even if the pond is only that deep in one small area. This is your pond’s depth. You’ll also need an average depth for your pond which can involve a bit of educated guesswork. For the average depth we would ignore any planting shelves and just consider the depth of the main areas of the pond. Note down all your measurements and keep them somewhere safe; you will need them to work out the size of pond liner you will need and the volume of your pond. Now you've
measured your pond, why not take a look at one of our other
