Working Out the Liner

To work out what size of pond liner and underlay you'll need, make sure you have your pond measurements to hand (our guide to measuring your pond will show you how).

Our liners are measured in metres, so if you have measured in feet you may need to convert your measurements. Divide by 3.28 to convert feet into metres.

To work out the length of liner you need:
Max. Pond Depth x Max. Pond Depth x Length x Overlap (1 metre) = Liner Length

To work out the width of liner you need:
Max. Pond Depth x Max. Pond Depth x Width x Overlap (1 metre) = Liner Width

For example:
Pond measurements:
Max. Depth = 1m
Pond Length = 2m
Pond Width = 3m

To work out the liner length:
1m x 1m x 2m x 1m (overlap) = 5m length

To work out the liner width:
1m x 1m x 3m x 1m (overlap) = 6m width

So for this pond, you would need to buy a liner that is 6m x 5m
